New York is undertaking a multiyear study of how climate change affects the state’s communities, ecosystems, and economy, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Thursday.
The assessment efforts will be led by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority in partnership with academic institutions, science organizations, national climate science experts, and community and industry leaders, according to the governor’s office.
“Climate change is here, it’s real and no state has felt its impact more than New York,” Hochul (D) said in a news release announcing the study.
