New York Incinerator Releasing, Not Destroying, PFAS: Study (2)

An incinerator in New York state has been “raining down” PFAS-based chemicals on nearby public housing and neighboring communities, an environmental scientist said Monday in presenting results from a water and soil study.

Far from destroying “forever chemicals,” the Norlite incinerator in Cohoes, N.Y., appears to be strewing the chemicals from burning firefighting foam through the air and onto local soil and water, said David Bond, associate director of the Center for the Advancement of Public Action at Bennington College in Bennington, Vt.
