NY Identifies Issues in Crypto Mine Air Permit Dispute (Correct)

New York was authorized to deny a renewal permit for a fossil fuel-powered cryptocurrency mining operation under parts of the state’s climate law but the plant will be able to make its case for the permit on other issues, according to an administrative law judge on Tuesday.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation in June 2022 rejected an application by Greenidge Generation Holdings Inc. to renew its Title V air permit for a natural gas plant in upstate New York.
