New Wind Farms Singled Out in Army Corps Water Permitting Pause

The US Army Corps of Engineers has at least temporarily halted all permitting for onshore wind farms nationwide even as its other renewables permitting has resumed, the agency said Wednesday.

The Army Corps briefly paused and then resumed renewable energy permitting last week, but the pause on onshore wind farm permitting continues, Army Corps spokesman Doug Garman said.

“The pause was lifted on renewable energy projects, and the pause remains in place for wind and wind-related projects in accordance with the attached Executive Order,” Garman said in an email, referring to President Donald Trump’s Jan. 20 order withdrawing US waters ...
