The EPA plans to start proposing rules increasing its oversight over new uses of 150 PFAS by the end of December.
Each significant new use rule (SNUR) would propose to cover a group of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and require the Environmental Protection Agency’s approval before any specified new use of the designated chemicals could begin, the agency said Wednesday.
“For example, EPA is targeting the end of December to propose the first batch, and then continue to issue the SNURs in batches until we get through all of them,” the agency said by email.
