New Orleans Must Continue Coastal Damage Case in Federal Court

The city of New Orleans will have to press its case in federal court that fossil fuel companies damaged coastal lands with their operations.

The case belongs in federal court because the only defendant based in Louisiana was improperly joined, Judge Greg Gerard Guidry of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana said Wednesday, denying the city’s bid to remand it to state court.
