New Mexico recently filed a motion asking a federal district court to find the US government liable for paying past and future cleanup-related costs at Cannon Air Force base.
The cost-recovery claim is focused on Cannon Air Force Base, near Clovis, N.M., and includes a bill of just over $435,000 for costs already incurred.
However, the declaratory judgment the state seeks would find defendants liable for future response costs and damages arising from the contamination at Cannon. And, the information package the state‘s motion included listed expenditures of just under $486,000 spent at Holloman Air Force Base, near Alamogordo.
