Conservation groups on Tuesday challenged how federal agencies have managed livestock grazing in the Santa Fe National Forest, saying the practice has “degraded” multiple endangered species’ habitats.
“Each summer, hundreds of cattle from the National Forest unlawfully trespass” onto the neighboring Valles Caldera National Preserve, “causing severe resource damage and harming” a number of protected species and their habitats, WildEarth Guardians, Western Watersheds Project, and Caldera Action told the US District Court for the District of New Mexico.
