A new solar energy incentive program projected to save Massachusetts ratepayers $4.7 billion over the next 25 years boasts support from the solar industry and environmental groups.
Electric distributors—including Eversource Energy, National Grid Plc, and Unitil Corp.—will pay those with rooftop solar who produce excess solar electricity but at lower rates than under the incentives in place since 2010, according to an order issued by the Department of Public Utilities Sept. 26.
