New Jersey Local Entities Challenge Offshore Wind Project (1)

The County of Cape May, N.J., and several local groups are pushing back against an offshore wind farm, saying federal agencies violated multiple laws when approving the project.

The county; its chamber of commerce; and multiple associations involved in food, hospitality, and conservation told the US District Court for the District of New Jersey on Tuesday that the Interior Department and the National Marine Fisheries Service violated the National Environmental Policy Act, the Endangered Species Act, the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act, and more when they authorized the 161,000-acre wind farm to be constructed by Ørsted North America.
