New EPA Official Brings Biodiversity Background to Pesticides

Ya-Wei “Jake” Li has joined the EPA as deputy assistant administrator for pesticide programs, bringing an attorney with extensive Endangered Species Act experience to that role.

The Environmental Protection Agency confirmed Li’s new position on Monday.

  • Li’s background includes directing biodiversity issues at the Environmental Policy Innovation Center since May 2018. Earlier he directed the Defenders of Wildlife’s Center for Conservation Innovation for nearly eight years and was an associate attorney at Latham & Watkins LLP for three years.
