New England Bus Companies Avoid Suit Over Excessive Idling

Academy Express LLC and other bus companies dodged claims alleging that they excessively idled their buses in violation of Massachusetts and Connecticut law, because an environmental group didn’t have standing to bring the suit.

Conservation Law Foundation Inc. sued Academy Express, DPV Transportation Inc., and Boston Charter Bus LLC, alleging that their buses idled anywhere from four minutes to nearly three hours at various bus lots and stops. The foundation says that their members are worried about respiratory illnesses and allergies from the exhaust.
