The federal government failed to fully study the environmental effects of a geothermal project that could harm a sacred site and eliminate a toad’s habitat in Nevada, a tribe and environmental group told a federal court in the state.
The Bureau of Land Management’s approval of the project violates the National Environmental Policy Act, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada. The agency’s action also violates the Federal Land Policy and Management Act and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, the lawsuit says.
