The Navy was able to put on hold some claims in a lawsuit over spills from its fuel storage facility in Hawaii that allegedly polluted nearby water used by residents.
The issues being addressed by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Hawaii Department of Health will be stayed, such as those related to the facility’s closure and defueling, the US District Court for the District of Hawaii said Tuesday.
