Most Companies Failing EU Chemical Requirements, Agency Finds

Companies selling products in the European Union are largely failing to comply with their obligations to provide information on hazardous chemicals, the European Chemicals Agency says.

In a Nov. 18 report, the agency said a project to check compliance with information requirements under the EU’s REACH chemicals law had turned up a noncompliance rate of 88%.

Noncompliance was found in particular for companies selling clothing and textiles, electrical and electronic products, and plastic and rubber items.
