More companies globally are disclosing pollution caused by their suppliers and customers as new regulatory requirements take hold, even though they’re not sure their figures are reliable, according to a new report.
About three quarters (73%) of firms now report voluntarily on so-called Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions, consulting firm Sphera said in a survey released Feb. 5. That’s up from 49% two years ago.
Close to half (45%) of the 1,034 sustainability bosses surveyed said they had limited confidence in the accuracy of the data reported, however.
