More EVs Needed to Reduce Battlefield Casualties, Pentagon Says

The Defense Department isn’t yet able to get all the electric vehicles it wants because manufacturers can’t meet the demand, a Pentagon official said Thursday.

“We’re facing the same issues that everybody else is facing,” said Paul Farnan, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for installations, energy, and environment.

One key advantage of electrifying Army vehicles is that it reduces wartime casualties, said Farnan, speaking at a briefing convened by the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
