Plaintiffs in the constitutional climate case Held v. Montana returned to the state supreme court Wednesday with a bid to enforce their historic climate victory from last year.
The Montana Supreme Court in 2024 ruled the state had a constitutional duty to protect a healthy environment and stable climate system, but the coalition of young people say in their new original jurisdiction petition that Montana has enacted new laws that go against the high court’s decision.
