Montana Logging Project to Continue Amid Grizzly Bear Litigation

The US Forest Service may proceed with a logging and tree coverage thinning project in the Flathead National Forest while environmental groups challenge the agency’s finding that the treatments won’t impact the endangered grizzly bear.

Alliance for the Wild Rockies, Native Ecosystems Council, and other groups failed in their bid for a preliminary injunction Tuesday for the Round Star Vegetation Management Project, after the US District Court for the District of Montana found no indication that any of the species’ secure habitat is significant within the project area.
