A Missouri state judge has denied a motion from Monsanto Co. requesting summary judgment on an upcoming trial involving alleged cancers from the herbicide Roundup.
Judge Elizabeth Byrne Hogan of Missouri’s 22nd Circuit ruled Wednesday that the company wasn’t entitled to summary judgment in the case of Wade v. Monsanto, a collection of 10 plaintiffs suing the company.
Monsanto, now owned by Germany chemical maker Bayer AG, is facing thousands of claims by cancer victims who allege their diseases were caused by exposure to glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.
