Minnesota Wildlife Trapping Challenge Must Be Tossed, State Says

An environmental group’s new lawsuit must be dismissed challenging Minnesota’s failure to obtain a proper permit for its wildlife trapping program that allegedly harms and kills protected Canada lynx, the state attorney general’s office tells a Minnesota federal court.

The Center for Biological Diversity and another group filed lawsuits in 2006 and 2007 challenging the state Department of Natural Resources’ program.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota ordered the state to update its regulations so they would comply with the Endangered Species Act. It also ordered the department to apply for an incidental take permit. The state ...
