Midwest Transmission Line Land Swap Draws New Legal Challenge

Conservation groups have lodged another challenge to a federal land exchange needed to complete a 102-mile transmission line that promises to connect more than 160 renewable energy projects in the Upper Midwest.

The land exchange approved by the Interior Department last month violates the National Environmental Policy Act, the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act, and the Administrative Procedure Act, the groups wrote in a lawsuit filed late Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
