Michigan Governor Calls for Exploration of Hydrogen for Energy

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on Thursday signed an executive directive to study the possibility of utilizing a natural form of hydrogen gas that could serve as a clean energy resource.

Michigan is “one of the most promising regions in the world” for geologic hydrogen because of the state’s “unique geology,” Whitmer’s office said.

“This initiative will uncover more about Michigan’s geologic hydrogen stores, which have the potential to attract long-term investments in our state and create thousands of good paying jobs for Michiganders,” Whitmer said in a press release in which her office said the gas “could serve as ...
