Michigan Coal Plant Operating Extension Faces Another Lawsuit

Minnesota and Illinois are challenging the Energy Department’s decision to keep the J.H. Campbell coal plant in Michigan operating.

The states filed the short petition for review under the Federal Power Act with the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit on Tuesday.

The suit comes as frigid temperatures permeate throughout the country and the DOE seeks to keep electric grids stable.
