Mexico Unveils Methane Emissions Rules for Oil and Gas Industry

Mexico could nearly halve emissions of the powerful greenhouse gas methane from oil and gas operations if proposed rules issued July 30 become final, according to some estimates.

“These regulations are important because they will help us to move forward in accomplishing the climate change targets promised by Mexico,” Anaid Velasco, who specializes in air pollution legal issues for the Mexican Center for Environmental Law, told Bloomberg Environment.
