Metalworking Lubricants Co. has reached a settlement with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and the Environmental Protection Agency to pay a combined $310,000 in civil penalties regarding alleged violations of the Clean Air Act at its used oil processing facility in Indianapolis, according to a news release Friday.
The company allegedly emitted more than 25 tons of hazardous air pollutants per year, didn’t operate its scrubber at specific times when its oil-processing tanks were in operation, didn’t respond when it malfunctioned, and didn’t keep required records, the agency said.
