Freight transportation provider Estes Express Lines was able to move forward with its recovery of costs claimed in a suit it filed against a recycling company for a 2021 mercury spill.
Estes was hired by U.S.A. Lamp and Ballast Recycling Inc., d/b/a Cleanlites Recycling Inc., to transport about 18 gallons of mercury from Ohio to a recovery, recycling, and retirement company in Pennsylvania. Estes discovered a spill occurred at its terminal before the shipment was headed to its final destination.
