Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers is the House GOP Steering Committee’s choice to lead Republicans on the Energy and Commerce Cmte, according to a House Republican aide.

  • McMorris Rodgers, R-Wash., would be the first woman of either party to occupy a full leadership role on the powerful committee
  • Reps. Michael Burgess, R-Texas, and Bob Latta, R-Ohio, also competed for the job
  • The full conference will vote on the steering committee recommendation Thursday
  • McMorris Rodgers would replace outgoing ranking member Greg Walden, R-Ore., who is retiring from Congress
