Massive Nevada Logging Project Needs More Review, Groups Say

The US Forest Service approved a logging and burning project in Nevada’s Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest without an adequate environmental review, environmental groups alleged in a new lawsuit.

Native Ecosystems Council, Alliance for the Wild Rockies, and WildLands Defense said the agency violated several laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act and the Administrative Procedure Act, by approving a 5.1 million-acre initiative with a vague final review, according to the complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the District of Nevada.
