Massachusetts has awarded $20 million to new battery-storage projects, an amount officials hope is enough to jump-start a nearly nonexistent industry in the state.
Officials announced today that 26 energy storage demonstration projects had won grants of $100,000 to $1.25 million, including those by Ameresco Inc., General Electric Co., National Grid USA Service Co. Inc., and Tesla Inc., to install cutting-edge energy-storage systems at casinos, hotels, hospitals, and schools.
