Maryland’s First Offshore Wind Farm Pushed Out by Permit Delay

Maryland’s first offshore wind farm project will be delayed by a year because developer Orsted A/S says key U.S. permits haven’t been approved by the Trump administration.

Orsted now expects to complete the Skipjack project in late 2023, according to a statement on its website. In a separate regulatory filing, Orsted also said it plans to use General Electric Co. 12-megawatt turbines, a switch from its earlier proposal to use an 8-megawatt model from Siemens AG. That will reduce the number of turbines required to 12 from 15.
