Maryland Files Pair of Forever Chemical Suits Targeting 14 Firms

Maryland’s attorney general filed a pair of lawsuits Tuesday seeking damages and cleanup costs from chemical giants the state claims have polluted the environment with forever chemicals.

The first lawsuit filed by Attorney General Anthony G. Brown (D) in the Circuit Court of Baltimore City targets five firms—including 3M Co., DuPont de Nemours Inc., and The Chemours Co.—for allegedly contaminating waterways with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) that the firms produced for various purposes, including nonstick applications.
