Marathon Oil Co. on Thursday agreed to pay the federal government $64.5 million for alleged Clean Air Act violations at its oil and gas operations on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota.
That civil penalty is “the largest ever for violations of the Clean Air Act at stationary sources, which include facilities such as oil and gas tank systems,” the US Environmental Protection Agency said in a statement.
