Majority of New Mexico Dolomite Mining Plan Upheld in Challenge

The Bureau of Land Management adequately reviewed a 20-year magnesium ore mining project in New Mexico, but needed to reexamine its conclusions about the thousands of tons of waste that could contaminate local water supply, a federal court said.

The US District Court for the District of New Mexico upheld all but one part of the agency’s approval of the proposed American Magnesium Foothill Dolomite Mine Project near the Florida Mountains on Tuesday.
