Maine Wins Bid to Switch Climate Tort Lawsuit to State Court

Oil and gas companies have to fight another climate tort case in state court, after a Maine federal judge granted the state’s remand petition on Monday.

Chevron Corp., the defendant who removed the case to federal court after it was filed, failed to convince Judge Nancy Torresen of US District Court for the District of Maine that federal interests were at play in the case, which would warrant the switch in jurisdiction.
