Maersk, Trafigura Urge Shipping to Beat IMO 2050 Carbon Goal (1)

Maersk and Trafigura are among signatories to a post on the World Economic Forum’s website calling for the shipping industry to have zero emissions by 2050.

  • “To get there, zero-emission ships must become the dominant and competitive choice by 2030, when we need to reach 5% zero-emission energy sources in international shipping”
    • NOTE: The International Maritime Organization, shipping’s global regulator, currently aims to cut total annual GHG emissions from international shipping by at least 50% by 2050 from 2008 levels
