Lower Passaic River Cleanup Agreement Approved by Federal Court

A federal court approved an $150 million settlement agreement between the US and more than 80 companies to resolve liability for cleanup required at one of the nation’s biggest Superfund sites.

The consent decree is fair, reasonable, and furthers the objectives of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act, Judge Madeline Cox Arleo of the US District Court for the District of New Jersey said Wednesday.
