Linde Accused of Illegal Water Pollution at California Plants

Linde Inc. was hit with a new lawsuit Tuesday alleging that the company’s industrial gas facilities in Carson and Wilmington, Calif., are illegally discharging polluted storm water in violation of the Clean Water Act.

In a complaint filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, environmental groups Los Angeles Waterkeeper and Communities for a Better Environment allege that the company failed to implement adequate stormwater pollution controls and treatment to reduce its discharge of pollutants into the Dominguez Channel Estuary, Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbors, and the Pacific Ocean.
