Levels of Five PFAS That Should Trigger Action Released by EPA

Amounts of five PFAS that should trigger a contaminated site investigation or other action were released by the EPA Wednesday to help protect public health in those communities.

The Environmental Protection Agency added regional screening and removal management levels for five commonly detected per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, to a list of Regional Screening and Removal Management Levels it maintains to help health and regulatory officials protect local communities.

The five PFAS are: perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA), perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS), and hexafluoropropylene oxide dimer acid and its ammonium salt, also called the GenX chemicals ...
