Last of Puerto Rico Power Will be Restored By May: Energy Official

Power will be restored by the end of May to rural parts of Puerto Rico that have been without electricity since Hurricane Maria hit last September, an Energy Department official told a House committee April 11.

“I think we’re going to be at 100 percent” by the end of May, Bruce Walker, head of the Energy Department’s Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability, told reporters following an April 11 House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing on the status of electricity restoration on the island.
