Realizing its days were numbered operating a power plant fueled by coal, Drax Group Plc has spent more than five years shifting some of its boilers to run on biomass. Now it’s planning to use its financial clout to expand to natural gas.
Will Gardiner, who took over as chief executive officer in January, expects to be able to use the strength of Drax’s balance sheet to help fund construction of what may become the biggest natural gas plant in the U.K.
