Land Bureau Rescinds Equal Employment, Anti-Harassment Policy

The Bureau of Land Management rescinded its workplace anti-discrimination and harassment policy that took effect in August.

The bureau, part of the Interior Department, rolled back on Feb. 14 a permanent instruction memorandum intended to re-issue its equal employment opportunity policy statement opposing workplace harassment and discrimination and embracing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

The memorandum called on bureau managers to act against workers found to have engaged in discrimination, harassment, or reprisal against other employees.

It was unclear Monday if other Interior Department agencies had rescinded similar policies. The Interior Department didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. ...
