Oil and gas companies will no longer be required to immediately meet a Biden administration venting and gas-leak detection and measurement deadline for federal land, according to a final rule the Bureau of Land Management released Friday.
The bureau will give companies until Dec. 10, 2026, to comply with the Biden administration federal land oil and gas waste prevention rule, which the Trump administration plans to rewrite, according to a Federal Register public inspection notice. The Biden administration had imposed a Dec. 10, 2025, deadline to comply with the rules.
