Keurig Settles SEC Charges Over K-Cup Recycling Claims (1)

Keurig Dr. Pepper Inc. agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle SEC charges that the beverage company made misleading claims about the recyclability of its single-use K-Cups, the agency announced Tuesday.

The company’s testing with recycling facilities “validated” that the pods for single cups of coffee and other drinks could be recycled, Keurig said in annual reports for fiscal years 2019 and 2020. The company omitted, however, that two of the largest recycling companies in the US expressed doubt that the K-Cups could be be processed, according to the agency.
