Environmental advocates are urging a federal court to declare the Energy Department acted unlawfully when putting together the Climate Working Group, warning the now disbanded group could further influence US climate change policy.
DOE violated specific Federal Advisory Committee Act requirements by putting together a committee that wasn’t “fairly balanced” and failing to provide public notice of the committee’s existence, the Environmental Defense Fund and Union of Concerned Scientists said in their brief on remedies filed Monday.
