Judge to Probe Whether PFAS Boost Liver and Thyroid Cancer Risk

A federal court updated and expanded its plans to explore scientific information about the possibility that PFAS in firefighting foams boosts the risk of liver and thyroid cancers.

The order Judge Richard M. Gergel, of the US District Court for the District of South Carolina, issued on Wednesday lists four diseases already being considered within personal injury claims, and it says plaintiffs have no immediate plans to pursue additional injury claims beyond liver and thyroid cancer.
