Elizabeth Cabraser, a founding partner at Lieff, Cabraser, Heimann & Bernstein LLP, will serve as lead attorney for plaintiffs in hundreds of consumer lawsuits against Volkswagen AG over the company’s use of illegal defeat devices in its diesel engine vehicles, a federal court judge announced (In re Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” Mktg., Sales Practices and Prod. Liab., N.D. Cal., 3:15-md-2672, order issued 1/21/16).
U.S. District Court Judge Charles Breyer, in an order issued late Jan. 21, appointed Cabraser as lead attorney and chairwoman of a 22-person plaintiffs’ steering committee.
