Louisiana, Florida, and other states urged a federal court to block the Biden administration from using estimates on the impact of greenhouse gas emissions that the states say threaten local coal and gas industries.

The Social Cost of Greenhouse Gases Estimates are beyond the executive branch’s authority to issue and implement, according to the filing in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. That’s because the estimates will “fundamentally transform” the economy and Congress has never authorized its use, the states told the court Tuesday.
