Speaker Mike Johnson’s planned meeting at the White House Thursday afternoon to discuss a pathway forward on passing a reconciliation bill was canceled, according to a person familiar with the matter, as GOP lawmakers in both chambers postponed voting on the bill because of internal divisions.
Johnson (R-La.) was set to visit the White House as Republicans expected to vote on a package that would allocate money for Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection. That plan was scrapped for now because of GOP lawmakers’ pushback to the administration’s $1.8 billion fund to address victims of government “weaponization.” ...
