Johnson Controls Signs $17.5M Deal to Settle PFAS Claims (1)

Johnson Controls International Plc said Thursday it will pay $17.5 million to resolve a class action over “forever chemical” contamination found in dozens of drinking water wells in Wisconsin.

The proposed settlement would provide $15 million to about 300 class members from Peshtigo, Wis., for property damage and harms allegedly arising from exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS, from the private wells. The remaining $2.5 million would compensate individuals diagnosed with testicular or kidney cancer, ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, or preeclampsia.
